CaseFirst is legal technology, not a law firm. It helps you organise and present information but does not provide legal advice or assess the legal merits of your case.

Structuring a chronology

A clear timeline helps you — and anyone you share with — follow the story in order.

In CaseFirst, add events on the Timeline tab with a date, a short title, and a brief description. Aim for facts you can point to — not arguments or strategy.

  • Start with the earliest relevant event and work forward.
  • Use specific titles: “Invoice issued”, “Email sent”, “Reply received”, “Payment chased”, “Meeting held”.
  • Note correspondence as events — who contacted whom, and when — so the thread is visible.
  • If you are unsure of an exact day, pick the best known date and say so in the description.
  • Keep each entry short; put longer detail in the description field or link to labelled evidence.
Remember: This is organisational help only. It is not advice on what to argue or how to present a claim.
