CaseFirst is legal technology, not a law firm. It helps you organise and present information but does not provide legal advice or assess the legal merits of your case.

Guides

Labelling evidence clearly

Good labels make your Case Pack easier to navigate — for you and for anyone you share it with.

When you upload evidence in CaseFirst, give each item a human-readable title and a short description. Prefer clarity over legal jargon.

  • Title by content and date where possible: “Contract signed 12 Mar 2024”, “Photo of damage — kitchen”, “Bank statement excerpt — May”.
  • Choose the closest evidence type (contract, correspondence, photo, invoice, and so on).
  • In the description, note what the file shows in one or two sentences — not a full argument.
  • Avoid vague names like “Document1.pdf” or “scan final FINAL”.
  • If two files look similar, say how they differ (version, date, page range).
Remember: Labelling helps organisation and file quality. It is not legal advice on what evidence “proves”.
